Abbey Road has answered the call to go green with its Tree Per Trip and Green Ticket programs for students.
“President Obama has called for Americans to do more for the environment,” said Abbey Road Programs’ founder and President, Dr. Arthur Kian. “We’re doing our part, and we challenge other travel study and educational programs to do the same.”
Abbey Road Programs will plant one tree for every student who travels with the company this summer as part of its Tree Per Trip Program.
Abbey Road’s Green Ticket Scholarship is available to students ages 14-18 who have exhibited a commitment to the environment through their school or community. One full, all expenses paid Green Ticket Scholarship and two partial (airfare paid) scholarships will be offered in 2009.
Students who have done work in the areas of global warming, biodiversity, ecosystem preservation, toxic waste reduction, deforestation, energy conservation, recycling, preservation of endangered species are encouraged to apply to the Green Ticket Scholarship Program.

Online learning combines information technology and multimedia to provide learning programs for students through the World Wide Web or through a combination of media. Online colleges and traditional colleges provide students with education and a degree but the difference is that online colleges do not require the physical presence of an instructor. More and more professionals are opting for online courses as this type of learning allows them to earn additional qualifications without quitting their jobs. Distance learning is particularly suitable for adult learners due to the convenience, 24/7 access, interactive technology and ease of communication. Educational institutes all over the world are now offering a wide variety of online degrees or diplomas for careers in healthcare, business, management, technology and education. An estimated 97 percent of public universities now offer online courses and approximately 3.5 million students are taking at least one class online.

Academic scholarship is probably the most popular type of scholarship given by schools. This type of scholarship are given to students who either have performed well during their high school or have applied and passed for academic scholarship.
Athletic scholarship, another popular type of scholarship is given to those with exceptional talents in sports. But, this type of scholarship is not limited to athletes. There are students who are artists and stage performers. They can acquire this type of scholarship as well. Some schools have other names given to this.
Departmental scholarship is another type of college scholarship given by colleges and universities. This has two purposes: to attract students to enroll at the department and to keep good students from transferring to another department
